Your hosts, Peter and Linnie.

We look forward to welcoming you to Amberfields BnB

We love meeting and hosting guests from all over the world and hearing about your travel experiences!  We know NZ ‘inside out’ so if you want any ideas to make your kiwi vacation totally wonderful, just ‘sing out’. Peter has a livestock trucking business and  a wealth of farming knowledge and experience of the NZ rural life.  Linnie has travelled extensively, from African safaris through to hiking the Inca Trail in Peru, exploring the Amazon, diving in Moorea,  discovering the mysterious Moai of Easter Island (Rapanui)and the fabulous Galapagos Islands.   USA is our favourite country to visit, with friends and family living in California. We have travelled the USA by RV, through America’s heartland and off the beaten track, and have toured throughout New Zealand many times in our motorhome.

Herefords at Amberfields

Here at Amberfields we raise purebred Hereford cattle on our eight acres. All our cows and their calves (born in Spring -October) enjoy human contact and attention. Gumboots (we have quite a range) are provided for farm walks, romantic strolls or picnics and you are welcome to join in any farm activities if you wish.  The tractor is old but she goes, our chickens provide beautiful free range eggs daily and Spike the cat often sleeps in their coop.

Two Night Minimum Stay:  This means you are able to relax. It allows guests to visit Hobbiton one day and perhaps do something really ‘different’ and adventurous such as black water rafting at Waitomo the next. I can personally recommended this.  There are wonderful bush walks on Mt Pirongia and Mountain Bike Tracks.  A few other ideas are listed on our Attractions page.

On our 3 month motorhome trip across USA we especially enjoyed meeting the locals and visiting some of the vast farming areas far off the tourist routes.  Having guests stay with us who also have an interest in any aspect of farming delights us.
